The Village
Polignano a Mare is an ancient medieval village perched on the limestone cliffs of the Puglia coast, just 34 km from Bari. Its historic centre, with cobbled alleys and whitewashed houses, is a fascinating labyrinth opening onto breathtaking sea terraces.
Famous as the birthplace of Domenico Modugno, author of the immortal "Volare", Polignano is today one of the most beloved tourist destinations in Southern Italy.

Getting Here
Well connected across Puglia and easily reachable from all of Italy and Europe.
The closest airport is Bari – Karol Wojtyła (BRI), 35 km away. From there, Polignano is reached by train or car in about 30 minutes.
Polignano has its own station on the Bari–Lecce line. Regional trains from Bari Centrale take about 25 minutes.
Take the SS16 Adriatica from Bari heading south. The historic centre is a ZTL zone: car parks available on the outskirts.
Several companies connect Polignano to Bari, Brindisi and Taranto. Service is frequent especially in summer.
Climate
The Mediterranean climate guarantees long, warm summers. Shoulder seasons are perfect for a more peaceful visit.
